In the area I plan to hunt(3C), there is a ton of NYC DEP land. When I check the list of recreation areas ( http://www.nyc.gov/h...tion_maps.shtml ), I see only a fraction of the marked areas I know to be there. Most of these lands are open and require no permit. There is mention of lands market "access by permit", and I got the permit, are these lands one and the same as the open recreation areas or are they in addition? When i called for clarification, there was a message that said hunting tags were no longer required on City land, am I to assume this means you dont have to wear your back tag?
I'd check in with the local DEP Leo's there, Grahamsville at 42 and 55.
I've met some of them working in the area. They'd be your best bet for trip beta.
NYS DEC hunting backtags are required. NYC DEP a few years back USED to issue their own lands 'Hunting permits' and they are no longer required.
Only lands posted "No entry" with no mention of permit are still off limits.
