Four people have died following an apparent drive-by shooting in Washington, D.C. last night. At least five others were wounded.

The Washington Post reported the shooting took place outside an apartment building in the southern part of D.C. Police said multiple gunmen shot into a crowd standing outside the building at around 7:30 p.m. Washington Metropolitan Police officer Billy Allen told CNN seven women and three men were injured Tuesday, but he didn't know which had died. A tenth person was found shot nearby, but police said they weren't sure if the shooting was related.

The shooting triggered a chase in which four officers suffered minor injuries after two of their cars crashed.

Three men were arrested following the chase, police said. Two have been charged with first-degree murder. Police are still investigating the motive in the shooting.

Witnesses described the scene as akin to a war zone:

Police sources said an AK-47 assault rifle might have been used. A man who said he was in the area at the time recounted the sounds he heard as "tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, and then boom!"

Then, "all I saw was bodies dropping," he said. "It was like Vietnam."

Another witness said that as bodies fell, "it was like a pileup at a football game."

An assault rifle was later recovered by police.

Southern DC (SW and SE) are really bad areas and there are always shootings, muggings, assaults etc. I lived in NW DC for a few years and you just didn't travel in that area, period.

I would assume that because of the amount of people injured/dead that it is making National news but otherwise its the norm for that area, unfortunately.

Most of the crimes are drug or gang related usually.
AK 47, illegal in washington dc...meaning IT WAS'NT US. But when did that mean anything to the antis, eh?
Absolutely great timing for these skells.
The Federal Judge just ruled that DC was ok to ban "assault" rifles and is basically trying to uphold the gun ban despite SCOTUS ruling in Heller. The article can be found here:

These guys could have had enough courtesy to at least have used a knife or bludgeon but noooooooo, they had to use a "assault" weapon.

Being at risk of preaching to the choir here, what the hell does legally registered firearms (be they AK-47 lookalikes or handguns or any other firearm) have to do with the illegal possession and use by these guys? Bet you the gun wasn;t registered like the law requires,,,,,,ya think? And, oh yeah, I forgot, isn't murder illegal in D.C. also? That fact really should have stopped them right?

Do ya notice the comments such as ...."it was in a bad part of D.C....."---this has become the only way to describe what has happened in our cities and towns and hamlets across the USA. I do not drive up Franklin avenue in the village of Hempstead ever since I got in the way of a little "gang" activity going on in the "projects," took a bump in the left hand rear quarter panel of my Blazer from a spent 9mm. There were cops all over the place, more flashing lights than a vaudeville theater, one cop ducking behind a car waved me to make a quick right as the round hit. This happened a few summers back when I was going to pay taxes. I guess that's a "bad part" of Hempstead---ya think??? BTW I haven't driven up Uniondale Avenue for at least 12 years either.  :damn   "Doc"
Maybe Mayor Bloomberg should get himself involved. I'm sure he can trace the gun back to some little mom & pop gun shop down south somewhere. Then try to sue them somehow. And then he can tell us how he's fighting crime in D.C. too.

Please don't give the man any ideas.
How come these people (anti's, Bloomberg, Justices, some liberals) do not realize that THE BAD GUYS DO NOT CARE if a gun is illegal or not. Or if a weapon is part of some ban. These are not licensed guns and they are NOT law abiding citizens.

It makes my blood boil.

Bloomberg knows this and NEEDS this for his own agenda. Any politician/appointee that seeks to limit private ownership of guns is only out to limit the public's ability to defend themselves, thus granting them not only the monopoly on safety, but the determination of who lives and dies. Its all about consolidating their power, while providing the illusion of safety and liberty, thus creating a manageable population.

The anti's are either dumb, or are motivated by personal tragedy. Difficult to argue with either.

I stated to make my case to my wife last night, if Bloomberg ever ran for Gov and won, we'd be moving out of NY.

I want to move out of NY just because he lives in NY!
There are millions of guns throughout this Country and millions live here. Of course you'll have violence committed with a firearm.

Lets see how many people are killed by drunk drivers. Perhaps we should "ban" cars.
How about knives? I bet a lot of people are knifed to death each year.
Oh, can't forget about swimming pools. A boat load of people drown every year. I say ban those death pools.

What gets me most about the antis is: Just because YOU don't like it, don't tell me I can't own it !! Butt out of my business and don't tread on me !!

How about we go on a campaign of our own. Lets push for legislation that calls for "mandatory gun ownership." Lets force this on the antis. Make it a law that they must abide by and enforce it. Everyone in this Country should have a gun. Lets see how they like to have our beliefs and feelings pushed onto them. This is the exact crap they're doing to us. Forcing us to live by their ways.

Do you know what I say to antis? I say this: "Don't be so quick to give up YOUR rights. Just because you don't like guns, don't give up your right to choose."

Do most people know most gun crimes is relate to gang and drug? Do people care there are ton of killing in the USA-Mexico border? There more than few gun crimes happen is nyc and no mass medias report them at all. What that tell us? If some people will fall into this medias' play then I hope they will wake up some time in the future.
I AM SORRY BUT YOU ALL ARE MISSING THE POINT .....
IT AINT GUN CONTROL THEY ARE AFTER IT IS PEOPLE CONTROL

take guns from people and now they are more like sheeple

when they move up it is to hide the down movement
