Got bored so posting this thread
Those of you who ever had to drill receiver for trunnion holes know what PITA it could be even with good tools
Usually I did it on a drill press with X-Y wise. Not long ago I broke the wise and was left with no choice but to make something for it.
So I decided to use the mill which is much better when it comes to drilling small holes, has a more stable table. The only I had to do is build a fixture to hold the trunnion. And this is what I came up with. Used a swivel from old monitor mount, long bolt and a fitted aluminum block.
Mounted the jig onto a table, tied up the trunnion. Aligned the bit with one hole, slid the receiver on, drilled the receiver. Took exactly 5 minutes to drill all 6 holes. Perfectly aligned, no drill bit walking, no egging.
