For accuracy and power, look for something fixed barrel/side lever cocking. This would be an investment though, as they're not cheap. There are a lot of good break barrel piston rifles out there in the couple of hundred bucks area.
I bought a Sheridan Pump 5 mm Pellet rifle back in the 80s from village sports in Seaford. The owner said you are wasting time with the Crossman.
The new single pump spring rifles at Wal-Mart are really good air rifles. My cousin has the Winchester .177 that is 1200 fps.
You need an Air Rifle Scope .
22 pellets & BB's are the same, but keep in mind a good pellet will out perform a BB all the time. I have a RWS 45 from many years ago still a bullseye air rifle but its a .177 pellet. At 25 feet its ll in one hole if I do my part. Bruce at Hunters Essentials has a couple of 22 cal Wispers in stock if you want to check them out.
