I finally read the articles. Didn't want to after all the Ray Rice circus. If the kid didn't need medical attention then this is just something our society is unaccustomed to… a black father disciplining his son.
It's common down south and with black families to use a "switch" to discipline their kids.
Unless the kid was badly hurt, I don't see the problem.
Just more pc crap and the pussification of this country.
ETA: I'm twice as mad, he was the star of my fantasy football team.

I see no problem with this, been fighting with my friends since yesterday, many of which are not 30 yet, I am 45. Different generations, different beatings I guess.
Down south they use a "switch", my dad used a belt.

I think most of us went through as kids what would now more than qualify as "child abuse".
Open hand, the belt, that infernal wooden spoon. (my mom once broke one over my head)
I have a 4 month old, I can't imagine ever putting my hands on her in anger. But I believe if a parent needs to physically discipline a child it should be a quick smack on the toosh. One. I think that should be enough to get the point across. The child has now associated what he/she did wrong with physical pain. IMO if you continue from there you're entering into sadism.
It's about what the kid did wrong, not about how mad you are.
I'm not sure how I feel about using a "tool" or implement to punish a child. Especially a 4 year old boy who pushed his brother.
I do know for sure that what happened between Peterson and his kid definitely qualifies as abuse. He worked that kid over, and I think he's a POS.
They wouldn't have called it abuse back then, but why on bare legs? A spanking or a few hits while he's clothed would have gotten the point across.
