Nice police work there Lou.

And when they run out of victims in the sunshine state, I'm sure they'll spread out.

Reports say nearly 30,000 offenders are currently missing from state supervision. 5,600 of them are violent crimes. More than 23,000 unaccounted for are men.

According to the reports most offenders have been able to walk away from work related programs or simply just stopped calling their probation officer.

What happened? The Justice system in Florida closed down ?
Maybe they will re-appear one at a time on "Alcatraz."
Did they look between the sofa cushions?
Sounds like Florida. Sometime my brother will get a speeding ticket mailed to him up here. thing is he paid it two times already
I think I saw ALL of them this morning in 7-11 and Home Depot parking lots.
They're hangin out with missing election ballots. No Florida, you won't live that one down. =P
If you are a conspiracy theorist, this ties in perfectly with some reports from a number of (otherwise seemingly credible people) that they saw NG burying scores of bodies in inmate garb post-Katrina.

This sounds crazy. On the other handm, if a bunbch of them "disappear" from the prison and are still "on the books" then somebody gets to pocket all that extra money- which comes to what, $40K per head per year?

So, two dozen guys disappear and you have a million dollar budget surplus that you can steal while accounting for at the same time. A million bucks buys a lot of silence,m and that's two dozen guys, not 30,000. Crazy idea, but if you think about it the motive exists, and the opportunity certainly exists- and lots of these guys aren't in touch with anybody on the outside (and the warden knows exactly WHICH ones) so who would know or report them missing? Nobody will look for them for 30 years untl they come up for parole.

Cynthia McKinney wanted to launch an investigation into this and she got shut down (hard) and it got hushed up ajnd nobody spoke about it again until now. I am not a black helicopters type of guy, but I strongly suspect some inmates have disappeared and the paperwork got "overlooked" and somebody is lining their pockets somewhere. Probably only a small percentage, but think about it....

At least no one has heard from them... The NYS courts let criminals out here on purpose and they end up in Brooklyn shooting cops in the head!
But we can track a cow back to the Canadian farm where it was born.. Give all inmates cows!

Maybe that's how they're trying to make up for RE free-fall and budget shortfalls - send out tickets as many times as possible in the hope that some will pay multiple times

Good idea- and presumably install cow-giveaway stations on our side of the Rio Grande as well?

Sounds like Nassau county.... I've had the same ticket from 1986 come back four times... paid it, fought it and got dismissed second time, third time I couldn't find the paperwork, last time (this past summer) I had ALL the paperwork and was ready to file suit - got it dismissed HOPEFULLY for good.

Brilliant - they printed out my disposition on THERMAL paper (people still use that???) on a 90+ degree day... good thing I thought to xerox AND photograph it before it turned black within the hour...
always in the last place ya look...but than again, why would you continue looking after you found what it was your looking for. ??)
I think they all voted in the last election. ;)
