this is good news for us
Yep... Now let's see if he'll sign the 10-year-old shooting bill when it crosses his desk.

S4017-2011 Authorizes children 10 years of age or older to load and fire a rifle, shotgun or pistol at a shooting range while under the supervision of a qualified person; increases from 18 to 21 years of age the minimum age of a person who may be designated in writing by the parent or guardian of a child to supervise such child while he or she is shooting. -Which is on for third reading now.
I don't understand. If there is a bill to increase the age, why would we want it? If an 18-20 year old can serve and vote, they can certainly supervise.

The age to SUPERVISE A CHILD over the age of 10 while loading and firing a rifle pistol or shotgun....

If this were "supervised by a PARENT or CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR" it would probably be a lot more 'sensible' to those on the fence on this - I'm guessing that the increase from 18 to 21 is thinking along those lines.

It would also probably be easier to lower that supervisory age requirement later than to get the bill passed to start with an 18yo requirement.
