I need to remove the scope rail from my 10/22. One screw head is stripped. Screwed into the receiver with threadlocker blue. I thought about buying a grabit micro extractor and try to remove it myself. What gunsmith would you bring the receiver to about what would it cost?

Ok so I'm itching to do a new AR build in 556 but as usual $$ is an issue. Any one know of local shops that have aluminum stripped on the cheap? $85 would be lovely, any ideas? I want to be able to put more money into the upper and other parts so this is why I'm going on the cheap for lower.

I think this has been covered before .... Mounting a weaver type scope rail to a stainless 10/22. Mount keeps coming loose. It looks like the forward most screw hole only has 1 or 2 threads. Drill & tap next inch size? 8-32 or metric?

So legally, are we allowed to own a receiver labeled SBR and not build it? Or is it required to have a tax stamp? Would an FFL even transfer the stripped lower with SBR on it?
