Nice to see folks doing such nice work. The photos alone are worth investigating this link. http://www.antiquemilitaryshooter.com/2015/08/14/wwii-k98-byf42-matching-serial-numbers/ I found this neglected K98 in an antique shop in Asheboro after church one Sunday. It was part of a collection...

So, I posted before about finally getting my k98. This weekend, I went to the range to run a few rounds through it. Loaded it up, cycled a round...... Bolt wouldn't lock down into battery, tried another cartridge, same issue. Tried it with 3 different ammo brands (one being a few milsurp...

Anybody know of any local shops that have Mauser's? Looking to add a K98 to my collection, would prefer a non Russian capture one. Thanks.

When we cleaned out my uncle's house after he passed away 15 years ago, we found a Mauser k98 karbiner in the basement. I always wondered where my uncle got it from. My uncle was never in he military, so it always intrigued me. I got to talking to a relative and mentioned the rifle to him. He...

I picked up a k98 for dirt cheap on gunbroker a few weeks ago. It has a Lyman rear peep site and sporterized front sight. I finally finished cleaning it up and would like to set it in a new sporter stock. Any recommendations?

I had no idea these surplus mags even existed! Supposedly you remove the magazine plate, spring and follower and this 25rd mag screws right in, giving your Mauser a 30rd capacity. Pretty sweet! Too bad I'm not in a free state. Not sure of the story about these trench magazines, any guys into...

I just picked up a RC 1938 K98 Mauser. The rifle is very clean with good rifling, but the bore is dark. I've cleaned the bore out using bronze brushes and hundreds of patches. The patches are coming out clean. The muzzle looks good as well. I shot Yugo surplus ammo that has gotten good reviews...

Can anyone tell me how to disasemble a mauser bolt that has the type of safty that looks like a key? It has a hole in it and is meant not to hit a scope that may be mounted on the rifle. That way the bolt can be removed without removing the scope. There must be some way to do it, but if you try...

Yesterday morning I saw a nice German K98 at a shop. Numbers are all matching. Stock is original but it looks like new. Two German eagles are on the barrel. Bolt is not blued, it's shinny metal finish. Bluing on the barrel is 95%+. The rifle comes without the sling and bayonet. Don't remember...
