It'll be my first time bowhunting this October, and I'm curious as to what type of gear (sweatshirts, jackets, pants) I should be using, in terms of color, and material. I did some reading, and a few hunters recommend fleece for the silence of the fabric, others recommended wool.
Just saw a post on FB that the DEC has approved bow hunting in Connetquot, anyone know anything about this?
"Hello this is very important issue and please we need to show a very strong united presence at the meeting on August 3rd Any questions please contact me at xxx xxx xxxx or...
I have my NYS hunting license, but can't seem to get myself into any of the bowhunter education classes before they fill up - does anyone have suggestions on how to get into one (preferably local)? Would love to supplement my firearm season with some quality bow time out in a Montauk treestand...
Bagged a nice big doe this morning out in Quogue. We're supposed to help cull the heard. Getting lots of pressure to take more and more, so I bit the bullet. Wife makes amazing venison backstraps and the dog gets the rest. Biggest doe I ever shot, over 125 lbs. Thank God she wasn't pregnant.
Sat thru the 8hr class at Smith point archery and got my bowhunting license. Very similar to the rifle hunting safety class. One take away from the class, you can take as many anter-less deer as you want on LI when bow hunting.
So I'm in Mill Dam Park last night around 8 and across the parking lot I see something out of the norm - a doe strolling into a small wooded patch. Looks to be a nice size too as I was about 150 yards away when I took this crappy cellphone pic. Need to keep my bow in my trunk!
I thought i'd share this for anyone who is interested.
