I am trying to locate one of them "comrade" rifles.

I have seen a few on gunbroker.com but I would prefer to see if I can deal with anyone local.

Any ideas?

Right now everything is big bucks, there was a local Saiga recently for $1200 and it went fast.

I understand the cost. Clearly supply and demand. And I am willing to pay about market.

The AR upper is a good option but I would prefer the traditional style and looks.

Your best bet is to try online stores. GL.

Check them out. Last I was there, they had a few sks according to the owner. Give them a call first.

Edit, if you are paying about $1k, why not get a mini thirty.

For $1000, I'd sell my SKS.

Yeah. If your sks is one of those military types, you can ask for about $1k.

Not sure about military types, but it has Chinese carvings. It clearly was held by a soldier.

For about $1,500 you could get a $600 Century Arms AK at Jerry's. I know, I know - Jerrys Ugh, but if you really want one, I believe he has them in stock - NY legal and all!

I got me one!

The next one on the list is an SKS-M. Not very common, carbine length, etc.

This surplus rifle game is fun! Lol!

Lets see it. I know its "just" a SKS but its nice to see gun pics and posts instead of all the bitching posts...

Not "just an SKS" 2"-4" groups wit iron sights at 100yds is not a "just" firearm. Get a rear  tech sights for it.

At this point, if you just want to shoot with cheaper ammo, I would just build a AR-15 chambered in 7.62x39mm with a fixed mag for NY compliance.

I wasn't downplaying his new rifle. I am interested in seeing it. But maybe some people won't be because it isn't as cool looking as an AK or other milsurp rifles. I personally think they are, I own five of them.
