The flip side - I belong to two shooting clubs, one in PA and one in upstate NY.  I leave my house at 5am, get to the diner at 7:15 and enter the club around 8am. I typically shoot for about 3 hours. On most days there isn't another shooter on the 15 concrete benches other than my buddy and I. Now that's the way to shoot.

I have been wondering lately, how far upstate I would have to go to join a nice range? What Charlie-NY is doing sounds like a good idea. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

The Landowner & Sportsman club is in Saurgerties. Aprox 145mi from Nassau. They have a few members from LI and NYC. Cost is $100/yr if I remember correctly. You can shoot 100yd-200yd-300yd-400yd on the rifle range which has a concrete base, concrete benches and a full roof overhead. There is a pistol range a swell.

But ... they are currently at the maximum number of members. I literally got the last available membership about 5 years ago. If there is any club closer to us that has similar features I'd sure like to know about it. It is so pleasant to shoot there that my buddies and I all feel that it is well worth the morning ride.

That sounds like something that would be worth the ride.

It's by sponsorship only.

Landowners and Sportsmen Association is a private membership shooting range.

Membership is by sponsorship only, this means you must know someone in the organization!
