Arrived at Calverton today the line was out to the front gate. I figured the wait was four to five hours so I left .  Is this what we must expect ?

You probably could have gotten there earlier than 20 minutes before opening, but that said, and from my conversations with boaters while fishing off my kayak, there are a lot of people who are "working from home" LOL, and who catch an "hour or two" fishing or shooting.  In addition, many newbies out there as well.

Considering that level of interest I'm surprised that they are closed Tues-Wed-Thurs.

Just a general comment and observation at another range. There are a whole lot of newbies (some apparently who never fired a round before) showing up. That is ok. What is NOT ok are the new shooters who think they know all there is to know about safety and operation of the rifle.

Harry needs to retire.   I have had too many unnecessary problems with his attitude.

The original owner George, was known as a Cheap Shyster. I loved going to Calverton from the early 80’s. Great memories shooting at Calverton.

I'm surprised they haven't expanded it a bit.  There is plenty of room there, they could probably set up some 500 or 1000 yard sections and double the size of the rifle and pistol section.  Considering the lines to get in, they would probably recoup whatever expense it would take to set that up in no time.

I use to shoot at Calverton in the late 70s, early 80s. Is George the old guy who sat in a broken down Caddy with a ton of ammo and targets in it? The whole operation was a one man band back then.

I was there a few months ago and noticed that some of the benches are the same ones I shot from 40 years ago.  For that matter, I think some of the brass in the sand was mine from 1978.  :biggrin

When I go I get there around 6ish and I’m usually 5th or 6th in line. Get in and get out before I bake in the sun. And when I go there, I always have a great time !!!!

Does anyone know if Brookhaven has long
lines? I’ve been wanting to go for weeks now but don’t feel like waiting for hours just to get in.

I went to Brookhaven at about 2:00 PM on Sunday.  No wait.  I think it thins out towards the end of the day.  I don't know what the wait was like in the morning.
