The United States should never have to rely on any foreign county for essential products.

It is the MBA's of the world, who buy out politicians and convince people that its better for them to make stuff overseas. In the 1970's-1980's, it was Japan; now it is China. This cycle will continue, as long as businesses keep looking for cheap labor to make stuff. As we move into automation and robotics, they may as well make those factories in the US. Sure the total number of jobs wont be as high, but they will be higher paying, as the mechanical engineers will be needed to setup-modify-repair the robots. My 2 cents guess.

There used to be companies here that turned the bulk drugs (made here) into the pills ad capsules, this was as late as the early 2000s, There was one right in Freeport, and one in Deer Park

Also allowing foreign interests to purchase control of companies and then move everything offshore except the name
