You usually pay the shipper the shipping fees and I have paid L.I. FFL's a low of $30.00 to a high of  $50.00

When you find an FFL working during the pandemic ask them

None of the FFLs are officially open now.  Only to law enforcement.   Most places now charge $50 to do transfers.   There are a few like Kwaks in Bellmore that charge $33.  Typically you will need to call the place first and see if they are ok doing the transfer and get their FFL info to send to the place you are buying it.   They might also collect tax if you didn't pay it on the original purchase.

For handguns in NYS the FFL must also have a NYS Dealer in Firearms License

Kwaks is only long guns, no pistols.

I haven't personally used them however, in this thread, it would appear they do pistol transers.

His fees are extremely high.   At those rates, I seriously doubt you could save money buying out of state.

Thanks for confirming.  Was the rate still $33 for a handgun?

If so, this seems like one of the better places to use.

Hey, I can't remember for sure, but did you ask me about a drum for the 22lr PPSH? Found it in a box and I know someone was looking for one...and your mailbox is full

(Apologies for the hijack)

Same here. I’ve done over a dozen there. As far as I know they still do.
I doubt its possible right now given the virus situation.
Dont know if they are open, or if pistol license section in Mineola is open to the public either to add to your license.

As of last week, they were only giving out new licenses. They weren't adding pistols to anyone's license who isn't LEO.

If I buy out of state, and they ship it with a non NY Compliant Magazine, can I have the NY FFL get rid of the magazine and buy a 10 round one from them or will I have issues if it ships to NY and includes a magazine that can hold more then 10 rounds

Thanks

Yes, you can have them get rid of the non compliant magazine.   Some places might not ship it, but as long as they do, you can have the local FFL take care of the magazine.

Right now Nassau is only open for LEO.

Looks like my Sig P365 is not coming anytime soon. As always, the second class citizens, aka, the peasants, are left out of the equation in New Yorkistan

An active LEO can carry under their Agency and do not need a pistol license to do so. Only a handful of Peace Officers need a Pistol License.

I meant to say retired LEO.   In any case that is what they told me when I called.  They won't add anything to your license now unless your a retired LEO.
