Many of my friends in free states (outside of NY, CA, MA, CT, etc) have gun trusts for their NFA items (silencers, SBRs, etc).  Has anyone here ever considered creating a gun trust in NY for their Title 1 firearms (non NFA long guns and pistols)?

This would be beneficial in the event that you became incapacitated, deemed mentally incompetent or deceased.  Instead of your firearms going into probate, they would seamlessly pass onto your "trustees" instead of the government, this could be friends or family etc.

Does anyone in here actually have a gun trust?

If you have, did you use an online service (such as guntrustguru) or did you go to an attorney and have them set one up for you?

Also, did you have the name of the trust engraved on your firearms or did you simply list them along with photos and SN#'s in the trust?

Recommendations for Pro #2A friendly attorneys to set one up?

Things only go to probate if you don't have a will.  If that is all you are trying to solve for, get a will.  If you get a trust, you can probably put all sorts of things in it.  What's the goal here though?

Anything involving the Gummint and firearms should not include the word TRUST ; IMHO
