12 ga Hopkins & Allen Side by Side

I have my great grandfathers Hopkins and Allen side by side 12 ga shotgun.  Serial # 12398 

Wish I had a picture of him holding it!

I've read about the history of Hopkins and Allen.  I understand these guns were mostly hardware store guns which sounds just like a gun my family would have purchased.  We needed working guns on the farm.  Nothing expensive or fancy!  Great grandpa was born in 1885.  Of course it's not going anywhere but any way I can determine how old it is?

Go to http://american-fire...ns & Allen.html. If memory serves, H&A wnnt out of business, in 1916; so, you can be sure it's no younger than that.
