Take the precautions with deer ticks, also wait for the deer to cool off before attempting Field Dressing. Ticks will jump off the deer once the body temperature is dropping.
Long Island and upstate NY has Lyme's Disease. It's part of being outdoors, it effects everyone.
We have some of the best hunting opportunities here in New York.

Yup.   I usually just check that its dead, or walk in circles and realize it dropped ten feet from impact, then head back to the truck (heart thumping (mine), hands shaking, breath raggedy) and get my cleaning stuff.  by the time I hydrate, remove an outer layer and put some gloves on, the ticks are usually gone.

I carried this Toro mower across the creek so I can have an open field and trails. It's working great, shooting more deer now without hiking up the mountain.

An 8 point Buck with two doe eating fallen Apples by the driveway. This is the time of year you will see buck activity during the day before the rut kicks in.

Friday afternoon the deer moved. Seen an 8 point around 40 yards and a few doe about 10 yards away. I will leave the doe alone to keep the buck around.

This buck was chasing a doe, it was fun watching the deer today. Tomorrow is going to be a great morning to be out in the woods. My crossbow is ready. Seeing good buck sign. This is the time of the year a hunter should be in the woods looking to harvest a buck.

Wow yesterday morning had a huge Spike under the stand 20 yards.
I was lucky to have taken my backup x now with me.
I noticed the carbon express the fiberglass s3m to splinter on the bow limb.
I will be returning it under warranty.

Friday and Saturday was excellent deer action, Sunday and Monday didn’t see a buck. This morning nothing. Friday will hunt with the expectation of snow Thursday.

Yesterday morning I hunted my spot, seen one buck about 75 yards away. Found a new rub. I believe this is the peak rut. Today is a good day to be inside a ground blind with the winter weather this morning. Saturday is opening day for rifle.

This 8 point was harvested on Monday at 60 yards. The 3 point rule is working.
