LI Outdoorsman has a few Riley Defense NY compliant AK's as of this week.

Be prepared for a huge rip off price of $790 for a $500 gun.

CA bullet button does not fly.

Brass 7.62 ammo is damn near $1 a round if you are crazy enough to buy from local shops too.

SKS is a great option, i have one and love it. If you want to you can bubba it with as many features you would like since it does not have a detachable magazine. I personally prefer the original look with the wood-

I have a couple of "AK's," a Saiga and a Century Arms, but I can't wait to get to a free state so I can get a "real" one (complete with 30 round mags)!
