Anybody know if you can catch a glimpse of the USPSA match during the Sunday Freeport open house or if that area is out of view.

You can go and watch. Usually matches are open to anyone to join. They have benches in the back to watch. But I would highly encourage you to just jump in and get your feet wet if you have the gear. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful at these events.

Not a member yet... looking forward to attending this months meeting, and eventually making the requirements to join the little club- in hopes of learning skills of the sport.

This was true! It was pretty interesting to watch, and i wish I had been prepared to participate... Although all the gear there looked way higher end than anything I have- but I got to meet a few friendly people who gave me some insight into the match. I'm hoping to get into the next one!

You dont need anything special to get involved. Im using a 9mm S&W MP . I shoot regular Remington ammo . The only thing I suggest is have about 6 mags .

One thing nice about Freeport is it's a small range so the stages are not as complicated. Easier to watch how everybody else runs thru the stage. Great place to learn. As was said above you don't need a fancy pistol. Run whatever pistol you have. My ammo is whatever is on sale. USPSA has a class for most pistols. The most important thing is to be safe. It's fun and addicting!!

Guys, feel free to jump in.  Any holster, any mag pouch, and some mags.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  I run a stock gun, a leather holster on the same belt that holds my pants up, an old school leather mag pouch that I have to fold the flaps back on, and then other mags in my back pocket.

Just be safe, have fun, and don't be a duck.  No need to be speed racer.  I shoot slow compared to most of the competitors and still do pretty well once the final scores come in.
