Finished installing a new Hand to fix the timing issue, cleaned up the stainless, and added some Factory wood stocks on my 686.
Had to post a picture of the finished product. Lol

I have a 686 no dash 6" I never shot it doesn't have the recall stamp on it. I own another 686 -5 7 shot model. Love the 686. Some people think the Smith doesn't go out of time like a Colt Python.
It's good you know how to work on them. I know Flitz or Mother's Mag and Aluminum can make a mirror bright stainless look.

I've installed a new oversized hand on a few of my other Smiths Some needed more fitting than others. This time I got an easy one. Minimal work and it came out really well.
My gun is also a no dash, but I had the recall done way back when it was new. M stamp is on the crane.
For the stainless I did use Mothers Mag polish, after gray followed by white scotchbright to do initial clean up.
I've never been afraid of attempting To work on my handguns or long guns. If Im being honest, sometimes they dont come out as planned. Lol
Really nice gun, I have 2 686's myself. A 4" and a 6". I used the Mother's mag cleaner on both. Everyone thinks they are nickel when they see them at the range.
No sorry I dont have a before picture. If your Security Six is stainless, then you can polish it yourself.
Here is one of my Security Six Rugers. I turned it into a Round butt gun, along with installing a Millett
Orange bar front sight.
