I have two S&W revolvers with locks. I actually like them. Rarely use the locks (except when packed for travel). As far as the Ruger snubby ...real nice gun. Have fun with that puppy.
The Rugers are good, so are the Smiths. Some shooters have trouble with the forward or back cylinder latches, and the Ruger's "Push in" release works better for them
I bought a Hogue Monogrip for my SP-101 and it has made a yuge difference in felt recoil with high octane .357 loads. The only downside if you want to call it that is the takedown pin in the grip has to stored off the pistol because the Hogue grip uses the hole in the frame the pin is stored in.
