Anyone here fish there.,? I was out at Jones Beach Piers and someone was telling me it can be dangerous at night...some unsavory characters it seems..Anyone ever have trouble there?

You need a NYS parks fishing permit at all times or risk getting a ticket. Permits are available from Jan 1 - end of March. After March you can’t get one until after Labor Day to Dec 31.
