Well I just finished another Fixed mag build this time I used a DD's Ranch kit. here's my write up on it. It's a pretty simple streight forward kit I also order the rear takedown pin.

Here it is the three pieces for the mag fix and the takedown pin.

After removing the old mag release I drop in the new fixed mag plug for the loss of a better word.

I added a little red loctite to make sure it all stays put.

I put the screw in and flipped it over.

Then place in the mag.

Installed the mag retention bar. Bazinga it's done really took me more time to gather all the tool then to do the install.

The rear takedown pin is quite nice and so far I like it more then some of the others I've used.

First I removed the stock. Yes it's a rifle stock so if you have a carbine stock you'll need to follow the removal and installation steps for that.

Next I removed the spring retention screw and dropped out the spring, detente, and old takedown pin. Then installed the new pin and reversed the steps.

And I'm done with this dis guy. She look real nice.

That was some of the reasons why I went with the DD's kit. I'm very happy with it and will most likely are going to use it on my other builds.

What size Allen Key do you need for the DD's kit?

I don't know off the top of my head I have two sets that cover most of the sizes I just used the one that fit.

Depends on how you fix it.

But for 64 buck for a mag you could buy 2 Bear Flag loader and load way faster.

For future reference, I just used a 5/32 key.

Yep... I second that, after the quick takedowns pins and the DDS fixed mag kit, the next thing I got was that bear flag defense loader. That thing works so good I'm going to buy 2 more. I thought I saw on you tube that they were coming up with a device yo load them with stripper clips.

Traded my bad magpul mag for an extended rear take down pin with ring from DD. Seems like a no brainer for the price.

Bear Flag Defense BF-10 is much better. That hole in the middle of the MA loader is not very sturdy.

I'll find out ?

I watched a guy trying to load his fixed AR while trying to use the thumbhole in a quick motion. He did get a double feed because the design of that loader is to release the BCG. The BFD BF-10 doesn't release the BCG and has a handgrip to make it easier while loading.
