I just purchased this week the M&P 9 2.0 Compact. The guy next to me at the counter was buying the first generation M&P 9 Shield brand new for $299. Probably cheaper then a used Shield.

Yup Budgunshop is running the deal for M&P Shield for $299 but gunbrokers already having these pistols for less than $250 NEW

I would be curious to see the 2.0 and match it up to my PPS M2.

I looked at the PC Shield, Glock 43 and the PPS M2 as a first gun and the PPS felt the best in my hand and felt more solid than the other two.

In my uneducated review prior to purchase, the Glock felt good but I didn't like the trigger pull and the Shield felt toyish.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you end up getting a 2.0 Shield with the safety, and if so, how do you like it? Is the safety easy to engage by accident or does it stay out of the way unless you deliberately work it? If there are any other Shield 2.0 owners, would be interested to hear your experiences so far with it. I like the 2.0 full size, so figured a Shield 2.0 is the next logical move.

Thanks!

Yes, was my first pistol. The safety is clearly out of the way and extremely difficult to engage by accident. In the 1,000s of rounds I have out of it, I NEVER accidentally engaged or disengaged it. You need to WANT to engage or disengage it. But it’s easy to if you want to. The sort of recessed design is great as opposed to a 1911 style safety.

Trigger is great and grip is great with the sand paper texture. Extremely reliable. I always bring it to the range; but it has been my least accurate pistol for me. Might just be the way it fits my hand; which are not big. I think I like a thicker handle and oddly enough, I shoot it more accurately one handed.

That being said, I like the safety so much, that another S&W semi with that larger external safety could be a deal breaker or at least a strong dislike for me.

You’re welcome to shoot mine if you can make it to Mitchel for a range outing.
