I really like DSI's range. It's about 30 mins from me so kind of far. Also a bit expensive. I live so close to Mitchell field that I just go there although I kind of hate it lol

i dont know which range you mean but outdoor one seem have weird opening hours but they have good range officers, Some of them are retired police officer/Detectives.  One of them let me try his Lightweight remington 700 in .223 which are super crazy accurate lol i immediately fell in love with it so i had to buy my own

Lucky you. I would love to experience shooting at a range that has been built in the last 20 years.

Mitchell Field was a popular place before deer hunting season. I remember back in the early 80's going on a Monday night and waiting for a spot just to make sure my rifles scope was on target. I imagine it still gets busy the week before opening day.

That's another range I've heard is expensive to join. Like $600 or something close to it.

My friend was a member there when he signed up with Edelmans for his Pistol License. It was in a basement under the Post Office. If you hate Mitchell Field don't even bother with that place.

The glen cove range is operated by a number of clubs under the auspices of the town. The clubs have various shooting times. Each club has cleanup responsibilities and it requires a class and a 4 month probationary period to be able to access it 24/7. Non magnum pistols and .22 rifles can be shot here

Can you shoot pistol caliber carbines in there, such as .38 spl 9mm or .45 auto?

I’ve never heard of the Glen cove range. What do they charge? They are only allowed to shoot on saturdays for 4 hours?

wait how does 24 hours range work? do they switching shifts every 6 hours or something also is it weird to show up at 2Am in the morning? lol

Depends on the neighborhood. Shooting at night is popular in some places.

Chicago is like one giant shooting range without rules.

The fun starts about 45 seconds to 1:30 into the vid.

A bunch of years ago siting a post for a guard that banged out sick -- I was in a NY telephone truck lot in Astoria Queens -- the guy I relived told me not to turn on the light in the elevated booth & I noticed the Plexiglass was about an 1" thick -- sure enough at about 2:AM -- shots in the distance --

I go in the mornings and it is never a problem to get my time in. The range does have a lot of downtime where it is being used for trainings. You might want to check the calendar https://www.freeport...r.org/calendar/ before you join.
