Hi len349, I picked this up for my wife TAURUS MODEL 94 .22 not a bad gun I like it because it reminds me of my S&W model 10. Speaking of which, what do you want it for? plinking, HD if for HD the model 10 is a great gun you can pick one up used for as little as $200 and ammo's not bad around $15 for 50 rds.

Member here had a barrel blow off his 44 magnum version on the forth factory round fired.

Same thing shown here.

Crappy guns. Don't waste your time and money on them.

When I was looking for a .410 revolver. I asked the salesman about the Taurus Judge and Smith and Wesson Governor. He said the Judge was the most popular revolver being sold. He also said it was a high return item for factory service. Quality control problems has been a big problem for Taurus.

Taurus was first to market and cheaper. Huge advertising and industry push on those pistols. But the last place I worked pulled all Taurus from the shelves and sold them t cost to clear inventory. Too many unhappy customers and poor CS. The place I work now is trying to sell off the last few and will no longer reorder Taurus models due to the same issues.

The gun shop upstate has a sign that they will not buy any used Taurus pistols.

I too have a Taurus 94 in .22, five inch barrel. Double action stiff so I dry fired it on spent cartridges a thousand times until a part broke. Warrantied, I mailed it back and the repair was done quickly and competently and returned via Fedex. The S& W .22 I looked at was at least 50% more expensive and a bit large for my hand let alone SWMBO's. No complaints here re: Taurus customer service.

I bought a Taurus Titanium Ultralite 44 magnum for use in the back woods. After hearing from the company by telephone that any factory round meeting SAAMI specs would be OK and not cause erosion, I fired six Remington 180 grain UMC JHP rounds -- a SAAMI cartridge I expressly asked Taurus about -- and got substantial erosion of the cylinder face. Prior efforts to learn anything on the web about this cartridge and the gun were fruitless.

On the positive side, Taurus will replace an eroded titanium cylinder without being asked on any gun returned for warranty service. On the negative side, warranty turnaround has averaged over six months.

Also positive, Taurus gives a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. Also, I found the revolver to be very well made (both tight and well finished) -- tighter than S&W.

I think with Taurus you need to be careful if you are pushing the limits. For example, I would not be comfortable shooting 454 Casull from a Taurus, whereas I would have no concerns shooting even hotter 500 S&W magnum from a Smith revolver.

From now on, I will restrict myself to 240 grain rounds with middling performance.

I bought a recent Taurus M66 w 7 rounds in .357. It is a 4 inch barrel and blued (avoid their stainless). It's accurate, with a 4lb single after the wolf spring installation. It shoots Mickey Mouse ears 3 shot groups at 50ft.

It handles .357 without problems, so far. But I mainly shoot 38 from it. Good gun for the price...

You will get varying opinions on Taurus customer service. Speaking from personal experience, they SUCK!
Im certain there are folks with positive experiences. I have not been one of them.
Possibly the worst customer service in the industry. I've been in the firearms game for over 45 years, both side of the counter. Hard pressed to think of worse service than Taurus.
As for their quality. Lets just say it can be spotty. Lol

@Wowser. Why do you say to avoid Taurus stainless? Just curious. I have an older Taurus Model 85 .38 in stainless. No issues at all. Thanks.

I have a few Rossi revolvers the older ones are good quality And can be had for a good price
The Rossi revolvers imported by InterArms are good quality revolvers. I remember back in the early 90's seeing a 2.5" ported stainless .357 Magnum for $200 new. That was the time you could buy a used S&W 686 or 66 for that because everyone was buying 9mm pistols.
