All local gun shops will give you is the used, wholesale price, for a trade-in, at best. Remember, they have to stock it, then resell it, at a profit. You would be much better off selling it privately, then using the local FFL to do the transfer paperwork.

Are you just looking to sell or trade for purchase?
Your trade will be based on how popular a model it is.
Check new price on Buds, and then deduct 30%.
That will give you an idea if you were offered a fair trade-in.

My suggestion is sell it private or here on LIF when you reach 100 posts. I have seen it in person what a shop will pay. Kind of like Pawn Stars. Gun is worth $1000 and pay $150 for it.

Gun stores are a rip off post it here , gun broker and armslist. private sale is always the best

It's a s&w 5946 9mm NYPD issue. I used it when I used to pick up money. But the whole hand gun phase wore off and I want to build a rifle.

Welcome to the site.
If your building a rifle you might be better off trading it in toward the rifle. What are you to looking to build.
Also try Fred's Gun store hes very reasonable.
