Did you say... "I want that model right there"? They will tell you right off the bat, you can buy it IF you are LE. Civilians can buy these models here...
I was there last week, but was not there to buy guns just accessories.
There is NO law saying a dealer can NOT show what is for sale online.

Eye candy for NY civilians.
A lot of the LGS carry firearms for LEO. Just because they have them in the store doesn't mean they will sell it to you without the proper credentials.
Many of them won't even show it (handled) to you unless you're LEO.
Some of the LGS also sell to out-of-state (free state) buyers on their website.
(or maybe it was modified to NY compliant- did you inquire about it?)

They sell LE only guns and they make NYS compliant guns as well. The gun you saw at may have been a LE only gun or a fixed magine gun and you just missed the fixed mag.

And when the Un-SAFE Act is repealed, we will all be equal again under the US Constitution.

I hate to say this but get used to it. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Yeah, this UNsafe act really divided the people. Pitted civilians against LEO's. It really needs to be appealed.
Astorino came close to upsetting Prince Andy. He just needed the Teachers Union behind him and he would have won.

We sell a wide range of firearms to a wide range of customers. Rifles like the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 are for sale only to law enforcement of out of state (shipped to an FFL in their state). Standard configuration DSI rifles are sold to law enforcement officers as well as to law enforcement agencies. I wish I had a better option for you. We have tried repeatedly to get S&W to work with us on a NY version but they will not. We have looked into building something similiar, we did at one point in the past, but I can't get the price anywhere near. Would you pay $695 for a .22LR DS-15?

As I recall, they also have suppressors. Reminds me of the time before I had a pistol license... you can look, but you can't touch... So sad...
I think when I go deaf I'm going to sue NYS for failing to make a reasonable accommodation that would have allowed me (and other law abiding citizens) to protect our hearing.

I'm curious as to which agencies buy your rifles?
