Hi all!

I need to find storage for my guns. At divorce court, ex wife brought up my PTSD and suicide(poop) but judge asked me to remove them from the house until this is over. I have 7 days either to find a place for them or hand them in to the Sheriff's office to hold until case is over.

Advice?

I'm thinking a self storage facility. No family near by, friends(hardly any use them) so I'm paying for it. BTW - No order of protection, nothing liked that was asked.

I don't want to sell them, especially my Benelli M4; if I sell her it may never get replaced. Not much just a Ruger 10/22, Weatherby Vanguard and Moss 500.

Thanks.

many self storage places do not allow guns, but what they know is dependent on what you tell them. Do you have any Buds who would store for you?

Thanks.
Don't ask, don't tell.
I got one guy I could ask, well actually one more maybe too.
Never thought of asking a friend, thanks!

Day after quarterbacking, I should have told the Judge more but I don't think it would have mattered but this can be good cause she now can't use my guns against me.

Maybe put them into a reputable gun shop for a "thorough" cleaning. You could inquire about long term storage, too. I would not say too much about the reason("Its important to be honest, but don't be stupid" - Pastor Larry). I seen places in NE Penn that will store your hunting guns for the off season.

Look to a local gun shop for a good cleaning. Better pay $$ than not have them.

and if you gave them to a friend for storage I would have trigger locks on them and the keys with you, just to be sure and maybe some paper work that states they are being stored with so and so, no sale or gift. makes me think gun shop or storage facility are the better options.

Having an FFL store them (if willing) will work in your favor on a few levels... You'll get a receipt that you turned them over to the shop and the guns will be on their books god forbid you are accused of using or threatening the use of them while going through the divorce. Plus, you'll have much greater piece of mind that they are secure than if left with someone else.

I'll hold them as long as needed if you let me shoot them! :pardon

A responsible friend is always an option if you know anybody.
And as stated before, locks and paperwork is invaluable for CYA purposes.

Stay away from the self storage places. Those units get broken into all the time and if anyone gets wind of what you're storing there, the likelihood of a theft will skyrocket. I agree with others... Local gun store is probably best bet.

I had that concern with my soon to be ex (at the time) but the fact that she is an NRA Instructor allayed some of it...still covered my butt

How about putting for sale on consignment in a shop and ask for a lot of money? Also not sure why you couldn't replace an m4?

Coliseum Gun Traders has monthly storage.
Give them a call for rates.

As others said... contact a few local FFL's. If all else fails, send me a PM and I can possibly arrange to have an FFL out of state hold them for a storage fee.
