Sad story. Joanie Laurer was pioneer in women's wrestling in the attitude era (the awesome 90s Monday Night wars).
For those who don't know the story, she was living with her bf HHH when he started cheating on her with Vince McMahon's daughter Stephanie (they are now married with 3 kids). That---and eventually being blacklisted by the boss's daughter from her career-- sent Chyna on a downward spiral of depression and drug addiction. (She was also allegedly abused by bf/wrestler Xpac). She also did the reality TV show "Surreal Life" where her alcohol and drug abuse was exploited and she later ventured into porn.
A sad story. Hope she now has her peace.
A little off track on a side note. I supervised building Shane McMahon's summer bungalow. (as I pat myself on the back). Shane and the wife are awesome people.
Later, Steve

Not exactly, he's the real deal. Body guard for the Shah of Iran. Bruno Samartino tells a true story of him getting attacked by a few Canadian football players backstage and The Iron Sheik and Bruno both in their 50's cleaning house.Next you will tell me the Iron Sheik was not Arab nor a Sheik

Some people used to try and tell us all the matches were phony and rigged. Those were fightin' words.

I disagree that her addictions were exploited.
Nobody made her do drugs and nobody forced her into that show. She made poor choices and lived and died with them.
All those reality show exploit drug users/f-ups/etc. The producers freakin' feed them free alcohol on set 24/7 knowing their addictions (the most compelling footage they got of verne troyer a known alcoholic was his falling off his scooter and peeing his pants..turned out the producers snuck him the booze). MTV's Real World covered up a rape. Many other cases of these shows in the wrong (with plenty of lawsuits and even criminal charges). You don't think most reality tv shows aren't exploitative? (that's pretty much the nature of reality tv).
She made her own choices, true, but producers putting on a show about a bunch of f-ups and playing up the drama for their own profits by enabling them is the very definition of exploitation.
Well, he wasn't a Sheik.Next you will tell me the Iron Sheik was not Arab nor a Sheik
Khosrow was born in Tehran, Iran. He made a name for himself as an amateur wrestler, and also worked as a bodyguard for Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his family for several years.[2]
Khosrow competed to become part of the Iranian Olympic Greco Roman team for the 1968 Summer Olympics held in Mexico.[2]
After this, he moved to the United States and became the assistant coach of two U.S. Olympic squads in the 1970s. In 1971, he was the Amateur Athletic Union Greco-Roman wrestling champion at 180.5 pounds.[6] He was assistant coach to the USA team for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

Sorry I still disagree. They all go on he show willingly and do drugs and drink to excess willingly. Making a show with them is just good business sense. All the world loves a train wreck it seems. These are people who were very well off in life. Had more money and fame than you and I combined. If they wasted it and threw it all away that's their fault.
As far as the rape on MTV I know little to nothing about it. I'm just aware that rape is the new buzz word for regret. I'm sad to say that now when a woman claims rape I'm fairly skeptical depending on the circumstances.
