You need to move the "is it over 50 years old".
Just because it's over fifty (meaning C&R) doesn't make it Safe Act compliant just that your allowed to have some "evil features".

So if you find that your gun safe has such a weapon I believe it is time for either a hacksaw or a lawyer. Am I wrong? You can't register anything any longer without going to jail first.

This chart is for post-SAFE transfers. If I'm not mistaken (and I could very well be mistaken) you receive a 30-day period from first contact following discovery that you are in possession of a non-compliant firearm to register, provided that you were in possession of it before SAFE and it was compliant with the previous law.On the serious side....I may be incorrect but you need to include a time frame here. My understanding is that PRIOR to April 15 of last year (2014) this kind of discussion was relevant. Afterwards, like now, it is a felony (or close to it) to possess a non-compliant weapon that is not registered. Period. Plus you can not sell it and can not register it.

That is the first time I have heard of a "first contact" grace period. Can you provide a reference in the law? tks...This chart is for post-SAFE transfers. This is what I have for a reference on the NYS website. It is the guide for the NYS Police. Note the section here, “4. Applicable Criminal Charges”

Yeah I was thinking of this part of the bill here (pg 67):

Claim that "you didn't know" and you get a 30 day warning to surrender/apply for registration. How well that would actually work is the million dollar question.

Even when using a detachable magazine in conjunction with what would normally be a banned feature, as long as it's incapable of accepting more than 5 rounds it's legal.
As per NY Penal Code Article 265.00 sub 22 (a)(g)(ii) and (iii)
"(g) provided, however, that such term does not include... (ii) a semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds of ammunition; (iii) a semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine; or...."
