2014 Sporting Licenses Changes

This page provides information on sporting license changes starting February 1, 2014. Changes include reduced fees, reduced number of licenses, changes to valid license dates and more. If you have questions, please send us an e-mail at fwinfo@gw.dec.state.ny.us.

Valid Dates for Annual Licenses Purchased Before & After Change

The table below shows the valid dates of annual sporting licenses or marine registration depending on when the purchase/registration is made. Information on annual combination licenses can be found at the bottom of this page.

Free & Reduced Fee Licenses/Privileges

There were no changes for reduced fee/free licenses or privileges, except for junior (12-15) bowhunting privileges.
The table below shows general qualifications for a free/reduced fee license. Documentation must be shown for proof of qualification.

Combination Licenses

Starting February 1, annual combination licenses like the Sportsman, Super Sportsman, and Conservation Legacy will no longer be available for purchase. Individual licenses, privileges and permits will need to be purchased instead. Combination licenses that were purchased prior to February 1 will remain valid through September 30, 2014.

Lifetime Licenses

No changes to cost and license structure will occur for lifetime licenses.
