I searched this site for a local gunsmith and came across Country Gunsmith in Bohemia. I needed help with removing the rear pin on a Mosin Nagant M44 rear site. I thought it was soldered in place. His immediate reaction was to scoff at me and say, "They aren't soldered, you just have to disassemble it and put it in a vise". He went ahead and did that, disassembled, removed the pins and reassembled.

When it came time to pay, I was expecting the $50.00 bench charge (on a sign), but he hit me up for $10.00. Nice! I thought. I reach in my pocket, get my wallet, and realize I had a measly $4.00. He glared at me and said, "You don't have 10.00?". I felt like an idiot, so I bought some ammo and charged it. He then offered to teach me gunsmithing. I was actually very interested and said sure. He said, ok, give me $100,000.00 and I'll sell you the whle shop and stay on for 6 months and teach you everything you need to know. Haha, I wish I had that kind of money.

Mr. Giunta seems like a gruff dude, but towards the end, I realized he is pretty nice and he actually smiled at one point. It is amazing how a smile can transform a person's face.

I highly recommened Country Gunsmith in Bohemia.

He's the man. He's charged me $10 as well for something I thought was going to be at least $30. A lot of people are turned off if they walk into a store and aren't immediately smothered with hugs and kisses. He's old school, you have to roll with the punches and give it right back to him.

The last time that I called to see how much it would cost to have something done he told me $30 which I felt was a very fair price. I drove out there an hour later, Bob did what I needed and when I went to pay him he wouldnt take a dime. He wouldnt even take money for lunch. Hes a great guy to deal with and really interesting to talk to. Hes got some great stories.

Bob drilled and tapped 2 1903a4 Clones for me and barreled one with a NOS barrel I gave him. I guess he doesn't check barrels before he installs. I sold the rifle a year ago and got a call that it swallowed a gauge. Oops.
Now, is Bob the kind of guy to blueprint a remington 700 receiver, or is that asking too much?

Bob is good people.

Always fair, and yes , he's rough around the edges, but he always does the right thing, and is willing to hang out and chat for as long as you want. I enjoy spending time with him.

I wanted him to install new front & rear sights on a new rifle. Involved drilling & tapping for the rear. He said it's easy & I should do it myself. He gave me a few tips & sent me on my way. I did it & it came out perfect. I brought it back to him to show off my skills but of course he wasn't that impressed. It was an easy job.

Just dropped off a box of coffee to him the other day. Bob is a bit gruff (so am I, so what?) but has always done right by me. He fixed an M1A assembly job for me that someone else ( a "reputable" gunsmith) had almost destroyed.and was more than fair (as always). A good guy, he will really be missed when he retires.

Phone recording for (631) 567-1555 says it is not in service (a/o 1/25/17).

Went there (1521 Ocean Ave # B4, Bohemia, NY 11716). Door is locked and no one answers knock.  Still some gun decals on door. Left a note in the mailbox.

Anyone know the story?
