The Episode

American Guns (Season 2)
Wyatt Earp Buntline Special/S&W Pitch
TV-14 (L), CC

An old timer comes into Gunsmoke looking to get a replica made of a Buntline Special the same gun used by Wyatt Earp. Then Rich and Renee head off to the Smith and Wesson corporate headquarters to make the biggest deal in Gunsmoke history.

Ok so Smith & Wesson agreed to produced the revolver upgraded by Gunsmoke at the end of the episode.  There will be a Smith & Wesson Gunsmoke Edition .38 Special Revolver coming out of S&W's performance shop. Anyone know any more about it?  Cost or when it will be available. Think it will be Smith & Wesson's performance shop prices or Gunsmoke's out of control prices?

You buy the gun & I can do the action job for you...For Free

There was NOTHING special regarding that S&W that I saw.

Action jobs are actually fun to do on S&W's...

"Gunsmoke" is gun-joke ...

Read on the S&W forum the projected price for the Performance Center Gunsmoke special limited run edition will be around $1098.95! I would rather buy two guns and do my own Paulsmoke action job!

They are businessmen, if their is a market to sell they will produce for those that do not know or care to do for themselves. Why would you fault them for that? I do S_it like that all day for people who don't know what they're doing or care to know. For such a small run(in there eyes) I applaud S&W for doing it at all! My Hubble $.02

I'm amazed that Gunsmoke can charge what they did for the gun. They ripped that woman off big time. Same as the rip off they perpetrated on his biker friend for the 686+    $2500 and the guy paid it.   I have to wonder why Smith would be doing the Gunsmoke special edition also.

PR reasons I am sure. Gun Smoke does have a good audience in the community.  Even if S&W only broke even on the Gun Smoke .38s they got a half hour of free advertising and PR

I did the same thing to my 1911, took out the parts, replaced them with high performance, cleaned them up (mim resiidue), and thats that, a lot smoother and cost me $50.
