I have dealt with Bobby for a few years now, He is very fair on price and does excellent work with a fast turn around.

I haven't needed his services for a couple of years now, but last I recall he was still there.
Personally, I've never had a problem with his work, been very pleased.

He made great copies of the FAL flash hiders for me years ago and everything I've asked to do has been 100000% over the years.
I recall only one person having a issue with him and never heard both sides of that story.
He did the removal of a pinned muzzle break and threads of my XCR which nobody else (Adco) wanted to guarantee the outcome of.
Perfect work and a piece of art. I don't think anyone else in the country can equal this.

I wouldn't trust him to touch anything. Not only did he destroy and brand new barrel/comp, he engaged in an elaborate series of lies to avoid taking responsibility and making it right.

Removing brakes or threads and cutting crowning barrels is pretty easy work for anyone with a lathe and shouldn't take more than about 15 to 30 minutes. Lapping and fitting stuff however can take hours and a great deal more patience (and skill). I have never met Bob, I will give him props for sticking around in this firearm-unfriendly environment. That weld thread demonstrates that if you can't do something well, it's better to farm it out. And if you screw up, get ahead of it before your name gets dragged through the mud. Once in a while, everybody screws up. I have some trashed parts that I saved to remind myself of this when I start to get cocky- when you start to feel confident is usually when your machine crashes, or the clamp you decided to adjust the position of ends up in your toolpath, or you are just a little too late disengaging the screw on your lathe and run your thread tool into the shoulder of the barrel.

I cut a shotgun barrel for a member last week, took 20 minutes and 16 of those were looking for my follow rest and setting up to chuck the barrel in backwards because my headstock thru hole would not pass the lugs on his barrel. Actual cutting 2-3min. Meanwhile I did a WC barrel bushing once for a bushing comp that took nearly five hours, that was a PITA in spades. Sometimes stuff is easy, sometimes it's a nightmare.

Bob has always done good work for me and it was fairly priced. He can be somewhat opinionated and he's not a shy guy, which could put some people off, but if you either know what you're talking about and don't try to snow him; or say right up front you need advice and help, he's great to deal with.

Whatever happened with this? That weld was questionable...to say the least.
