I BELIEVE it is for Brookhaven resident.

The signs all over that the fee is for a three hour session.

Wow!  The last time I was there several years ago, I seem to recall it costing around $12 per day.

Calverton is now $18/day and you don't have to spend 20 minutes policing your brass... Plus they have new benches!

Hey have backing but last time I was there half of them were basically falling apart. Like it was a task in itself to try and get your target on there. If you pressed ever so slightly you would go right through the backing.

The resident fee is for Broohaven residents.

At Brookhaven, shooters have to set-up the "provided backing" for their targets, and removed the backing when they're finished. It's a simple affair & saves the backing from the weather. Shooters shoot under a awning with decent benches &  some have shell deflectors. Brookhaven is a well kept, clean environment.

Obey the rules, and the RO won't yell at you. ( I never got yelled at by the RO's, but I have seen others do because they made mistakes. it's for safety.) Not all the RO's yell. Maybe some yell because they don't want you to make the same mistake again (one "bad" mistake at the range can take some one's life.)

Calverton is a "wide open" range. There's no cover except in your vehicle or the porta-potty :(

All the benches and target backings get hammered by the elements/weather (sun, rain or snow) all year long. Some shooters bring their own cardboard to hang targets.

BUT, you get to shoot from the bench, sitting or standing or prone.

I like Calverton, and so does many others. Hence, the long line to get in during the warmer months.

I use to visit the Huntington range, until the anti's had it closed down.

There are other nice ranges on the island. Choose the one you're comfortable with.

Enjoy & Be safe.
