so as a bit of background, I'm currently in maryland and will be moving to Long Island in July.  I really want to get a 15-22 prior to leaving, but understand that Smith does not make a currently compliant NY version.

Therefore, I was thinking of buying an NJ compliant one here in maryland (fixed stock, no threaded barrel, no grenade launcher adaptor) and taking off the pistol grip to put on a spur or something like that to make it legal in NY.  Is there anything else I would need to do for NY safe act nonsense? Is there any reason this wouldn't be allowed in NY? Thanks

If you are a Maryland resident you can purchase a NJ compliant rifle in Maryland or NJ and then modify it to be legal in NY prior to bringing it into NY.

Once you add the spur the rifle becomes less scary.

You're gonna need to get the catalytic compensator for NY emissions compliance too.

The fact that you need to have a compliant 15-22,should be proof enough not to move here.
This state is a complete disgrace.
