Well I've been looking for a old Winchester hammered pump shotgun. So a week or so ago I walked into Fred's and he was showing this puppy off I said right then I'll take it. So I picked it up today with another gun (More on that tomorrow).

I will say this gun is in great shape for its age. Here's some pictures for your enjoyment.

Thanks.

I'm going to take It completely apart some time this week to clean and lube it. I'll see from there what the stocks needs to get freshen up.

I ordered a some oxy-blue from Brownell so she will be my new project.

Things to do

1. Clean and lube

2. Shoot some trap with in for a function test smooth out the actoin.

3. Cut down barrel to 18.5 to 19.5.

4. Refinish metal and maybe wood.

Personally, I would keep it original and get a Norinco to tinker with,  but it's not my gun.
Enjoy your new toy. They are great guns, I have quite a few of them.
I don't know how familiar you are with the 97's, but with a full magazine you can unload it (magazine) in an instant by pressing the two buttons together on each side of the receiver. The shells will fly out of the bottom of the gun. John Browning was a genius.

I hear you. Its in such good shape I'm torn. If I come across another one in crappy shape like the one Chester's Has/had I'll snatch that up and cut on it

It would be a mortal sin to turn that nice gun into a 18 inch home defense shot gun.please don't I'll buy it from you instead and get a proper HD shotgun.

Besides you will be cutting the fixed choke out of it. Don't refinish it either the wood or metal. Just let her be. Please.............

Sorry to say I've started her rebirth its going to be a cowboy action gun, but I have yet to decide if I will cut it down. It is defenantly get a proper blueing finish either a hot blue or rust blue. But there is no rush for now.

The wood is cracking and I've cleaned off 110 years of hand oils the stock was cut down for that ugly butt pad.

I'm going to give the wood a lite sanding to clean it up then a nice rub down with Danish old then hand fit a new but pad.

I looked online to see if i could find a barrel half of a take down and if a can I'll cut that down and keep the matching # barrel that way it is.
