Can anyone recommend a guy in eastern who does soda blasting on boat bottoms to get down to good gelcoat? I have too many years of uneven built up paint, and I want to get back to the original gelcoat to start again with a good coat of bottom paint.. Its 29 foot and up on blocks now.

Thanks

If not, has anyone personally used a soda blaster, like a Harbor Freight one on their boat hull to remove bottom paint buildup?

you are going to soda blast a 29 foot boat in your yard in a residential neighborhood

might want to rethink that plan

its out in eastern suffolk, actually a side yard, an empty buildable lot. probably 50x150, and the closest neighbor doesnt come out until late june. its so desolate in winter that we used to actually shoot .22's into cans in that lot out there during winter visits about 20 years ago

thanks. good point about the dangerous stuff. the funny thing is, we had an old rowboat that my grandfather used to store upside down in the same spot for a few years in the1970's. The rain that would hit the bottom and run off all around the sides of the boat into the grass actually left a one foot wide line in the grass exactly outlining the shape of the boat. Nothing has grown there since. The barren spot is visible from satellite images.

i would rather find a company to do it. i hate being on my back under the boat.

How is it any different from the boat bottom soaking in the canal all day and night and polluting the bay? Now multiply that by the thousands of boats around peconic bay, great peconic bay, flanders bay, shinnecock bay, etc... how about the hydrocarbon byproducts of combustion of my two Chevy 305 motors from my boat exhaust being pumped right into the bay? Anything in the bay gets into the ground water also. i would be more concerned about the covering of goose shit all over my property sinking into the aquifer than i would be my boats bottom paint.

No, Trumps company is helping to do that by having a company that doesnt want to hire Americans. Flint's main problem is the lack of jobs for its citizens.

Speaking of Flint, If you have never seen this movie, you really should watch it. It shows the absolute evils of outsourcing.

here is an idea call dep and tell them what you are going to do

tell me what town it is i might even know who to contact

let me know how the fines work out

i dont make the laws but i do follow them

suffolk county has lots of rules and regs about dumping in the ground

stop busting on trump for 10 seconds and do some research

or just dump it on the sneak (a persons true character is shown when no one is watching)

I think some guys that soda blast set up a portable shelter to keep the dust and mess down. Look on FB for dustless blasting. I think theres a guy in Shirley that does boats.

Wow, thats another GOP memo you didnt get. I didnt take you for one of those EPA/DEC regulation-loving types.

We are not big fans of tree-hugging environmental regulations on this site.

Isnt that kind of thing all part of the over regulation of the environment, that i hear all that fuss about on this site?

Regulation is bad, right?

That post you responded to was about you, not me. It asked a question of you. You were the subject of it. I made no reference to myself. how could it possibly be considered self-centered?
