I may be wrong (and it certainly wouldn't be a first) but hasn't this been the way on St. Paddy's Day?

Was in Home Depot today and the cashier said Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Since I know Home Depot will not let their employees say Merry Christmas was she acting rogue? Did she not get the memo? Does the Home Depot have a new policy? Is Saint Patrick's Day different from Christmas? Since I am not Irish should I be offended? Inquiring minds want to know!

FYI- Wearing orange on St Patrick's day shows support for the British in keeping with a divided Ireland.
