I tried posting this yesterday but, for some unknown reason, wasn't able to get it in.

Folks:
We've fixed the date, as Saturday, April 22nd, at Old Bethpage R&P Club, the facility we always use.
If you've signed on, to work that day, please arrive by 10am, if you're part of the range crew and by 8:30am, if you're part of any other crew.
If you know of any youngsters, boys or girls, ages 12~17, at the time of the event, who might be interested, please let them know of the event.
The classroom portion will start at 9am, then run until approximately noon, when we will provide the students and staff with a complimentary lunch of pizza and soft drinks.
After lunch, the students will be brought down to the range, in groups, to work with experienced instructors, on-on-one, firing bolt-action, .22 caliber rifles.
If any of the youngsters are, also, Boy Scouts, this event will qualify them for the BSA Rifle Merit Badge.
There is no cost, to the participants. All costs have been absorbed by SASI. All rifles, ammo, protective eyewear and hearing protection will be provided, by SASI, NYSDEC and Old Bethpage R&P Club.
Anyone interested will need to complete the attached Parental Permission and Hold Harmless Agreement, then mail it, to the address indicated thereon.

Do the kids need to have any affiliation to the club? Any qualifications other than an interest in shooting/ firearms required? Thanks.

My daughter is looking forward to attending.

Do parents stay with their kids or do we drop them off and pick up at the end of the day?

No affiliation required. The only "qualification" is that the youngster be at least 12, yet under 18, on the day of the course.

Gary, can I post this to the District web site?

Bill:

Absolutely OK. The more who know about it the better. Thanks.

Larry:

Parents/guardians drop the youngsters, then pick them up, at the end of the day. Any space we allow to an adult is one taken from a youngster.

Monday bump. Interesting statistic: at the moment, girls outnumber the boys, by a count of 2.

Registration is climbing and we still have more girls than boys. That, alone, should be encouraging more boys. We still have openings.

My thanks to you, SASI, and the Old Bethpage Rifle and Pistol Club for a great event this morning.

My daughter talked at length about the many things she learned in the classroom and she was particularly proud of her performance on the range. Kudos to her coach.

It looks like I've finally got the range partner I've been waiting for the past 14 years.

Larry:

I'm pleased that you daughter has joined the ranks. Getting the youngsters involved is what this program is all about and, although we had a smaller than usual class, this year, the youngsters seemed to have a ball and many expressed an interest in staying in the sport.

Gary.
