I recently inherited a couple of vintage hunting rifles, built on Mauser actions.  I know little about them.  I've been looking on line for info which has been helpful, but does anyone know of a gunsmith on LI that is an expert on Mannlicher/Schoenauer rifles?  Nothing beats sitting down with someone with knowledge.

Thx

I have owned a few of them over the year's and don't know of anyone on Long Island who would be considered an expert. I believe the model 1903 carbine in 6.5 x 54 M S is the most sought after of all the models,

I have a 6.5 x 54 takedown made by Jeffries.  This was given to me as a boy as my hunting rife.  Has some wear but probably still 85%.  I'm keeping this one.

One that I am trying to get info on is 5.6 super express by Patrone vom Hofe made in Munich.  It's engraved, double set triggers, full rib.  Beautiful piece of work.

The other is 8x57 mauser Oberndorf.  Half round/half octagon, double set triggers, claw mounts for scope.

Both are mint.

I'm more of an old winchester, colt SAA guy.  So, I might be looking to find them a new home if I can figure out what they are worth.

We had a customer into them years ago.  nice guy, loved to talk.

I forget if his name on here was fredw or fredw56.

I don't know if he got as far into the nitty gritty as you are, but he really seemed to know his stuff.

maybe see if he answers a pm.

I can't seem to get the pics to the right size.  I uploaded them from my phone in the smallest size.

Only a couple are small enough.

I'll look for the tutorial on this site for sizing pics.

Sorry.

OK, need some help.

Tried emailing the site several times and got a delivery failure every time.  I used the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Finally got some pics up.  If you check the Open Discussion, I put some pics up of a fine 100 year old custom Mauser.

Sorry for the delay.  I'm still struggling with file size for each pic as well as cumulative.

If my Dad or his brother were still around... I wish I knew 1/10th what they did. Cliff Eberhard may be able to shed some light on them for you

I know the feeling.  My dad has only been gone a couple of months and every day I am ready to pick up the phone and ask him a question.

Thank for the referral.

I put these elsewhere, but I wanted them where they belong.  Really beautiful work.
