Maybe someone has a quick answer to these question:

I am a New York resident / pistol license holder.

Provided we all meet federal firearm ownership requirements -

I have an adult child (over 21) living in Florida that is a Florida resident.

Can I privately "purchase" a pistol from her and keep it in either Florida, or another state where I can lawfully own it?

Can I "borrow" the pistol from her for lawful carry purposes based upon my non resident Florida CCW?

I know ownership of a pistol in Florida is very different than here in New York.  As I see it, not being registered, ownership is more so based upon possession at the time versus a clearly defined registered owner.

With all of that, can I carry a "non NY registered firearm" in Florida?

You can keep it in Florida. If you want to bring it to NY transfer it to a FFL And to the drives to the precinct

I take some of Mom's pistols out for a walk every time I'm there, some times, she takes me to the range she belongs to
