Just heard on CBS radio that Ed Mangano will be arrested tomorrow on corruption charges. Don't know who is bringing charges but I hope it is Preet. Stay tuned ...
Mangina is dirty and a huge disappointment. Seriously, we have the second most oppressive policies for hand gun possession in the state and he did nothing to alleviate that pressure. What's the point of electing Republicans to office if they just act like Democrats?
Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City all share a common theme when it comes to gun control. All three ban thoroughly vetted, well trained law abiding citizens the right to self protection despite the fact that they have been properly licensed by New York State. The only exception is for those that are rich or have political clout. Many other counties in New York State do not impose such a ban and have a much easier time maintaining law and order. In Suffolk County illegally armed gangs roam freely while law abiding citizens are prohibited from protecting themselves, directed to dial 911, and wait for the police to come.
It's ironic that in Nassau County, the County Executive, the man who establishes the county level gun control theme, now becomes the criminal himself. While it serves no purpose to fix the problem at hand, it does provide some clarity as to why he has imposed such a high level of gun control. Why would a criminal allow for law abiding citizen to be armed?
While I'm NO fan of Mangano by any means, I cannot put much blame on him regarding Nassau County's draconian pistol licensing laws. They were just as bad under Gulotta, and my guess (though I am not familiar with their history) is that they were just as bad for far longer than that. If you want to blame anyone alive, feel free to place some blame on Suozzi, who passed the reprehensible rise in licensing and fingerprinting fees.
It was Federal Eastern District of New York. That is Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk predominately. Bahara (sic) is Southern District which is mostly Manhattan, Bronx and elsewhere.
Someone mentioned "modern" further up in the posts. I thought "food taster" was more Roman and Medieval (and long before that) to make sure the leader's food was not poisoned. If the tasting slave lived, no problem. If he died, no problem for the leader in that event, as well.
I bet plenty of folks are on edge for when these scumbags start turning on each other. All kinds of crap will come out about land deals and the last few big construction jobs and how these aholes are caught with having their hands out.
Just curious, mangano's wife reminds me of someone i know, where do you report an executive who works for the state and makes $200k more and he rarely shows up to work.
and he's been doing this for almost 15 yrs.
