I often wondered how Howard Stern has an NYC carry license when he would talk non stop about his depression and psycho-therapist visits, which would result in immediate denial for any of us.

Its always who you know or have the money to get things . Corruption while the little guys rights are taken away. If you have money its safer to let you carry a gun then a hard working guy trying to get by. Its the big people with armed security that have fences that tell you guns and fences are no good.

Howard stern bragged in one of his shows that he bought his license. I heard Chucky got his in 1 day and full carry, the man who leads the left against you and your right to bear your arms, not his.
There was a news story a few years back, exposing how NYPD issued on the spot carry licenses to rock stars and performers at MSG, routinely. How did they answer the question, did you ever use illegal drug?
Then the question has to be asked, how many other Pistol Bureaus around the State have bent the rules or shown favoritisms?
And who can you trust to look at them?

The following FB group drags a lot of this stuff out:

https://www.facebook.com/NYSCCW/

Everything we complain about is spot on accurate.  In Nassau County, Suffolk County, and NYC the pistol licensing system is staffed by corrupt cops of varying degrees, and the corruption starts at the top and trickles down.  These are not ordinary street cops that are riding around in patrol cars with a target on their back,  When my brother was a cop he referred to these guys as the "rubber gun squad"; Among other thing, they were the guys that wanted to sit out their 20 years behind a desk, maintain their status as cops, and then collect a sweet pension and benefits while they were still young.  Some are forced there while other know enough low people in high places.

The big difference here is the the corruption here is not a high priority, and actually encouraged.  Think about it - these guy are keeping guns way from just about everyone they can.  The entire process is based upon an assumption of guilt, and you have to prove to them that you are innocent"(a "good guy") in order to succeed in getting a pistol license.  Who, other than someone seeking a pistol license is going to be against these folks.  You are simply not going to have Black Lives Matter or the Vagina Hat Ladies protesting in front of police HQ over these matters.

This is effectively a legal "iron pipeline", where it's overly advantageous for everyone to turn a blind eye.  An influential friend of either a police official or politician want a pistol to carry.  They are referred to the right PLB cop by their buddy and get an "oh, by the way you may want to show him a small token of appreciation in the form of cash".  Someone pads their retirement fund, someone else gets their "2A privilege", and the rest is history.  And the best part, there isn't a watchdog group out there that cares, and gun licensing in NYS has no material requirement to be transparent.  This is the best of all worlds for elitist corruption to flourish.

We need to complain loudly and frequently to anyone that we either vote into office or get appointed by someone we vote into office.

I love the job title of "Expediter."

That office should only have Civilians. The clerk's in upstate do all the paperwork. The county sheriff's office may send a deputy to a neighbor to check. Most of the delay is from the state department of mental hygiene. Pistol license application and amendments are done by Civilians in the clerk's office. The only obstacle is the judge in many of these counties. They leave a pile on the desk and take their sweet time signing off on new pistol purchase.

Fixed tickets, fixed permits, fixed health code violations, fixed verdicts, fixed bids, human nature at its best.

The NYPD has many talented, honest officers. The one guy who was the expediter was at 1PP many times. Internal Affairs should of caught on sooner that he was visiting the Pistol license section hanging around.

He talked about putting a pistol in his mouth at least once and if my memory serves twice.

Anthony Cumia and Don Imus probably would have been denied premise or sportsman if they were regular joes.
