Sorry for the dupe. Searched around before posting, but didn't see the original thread.

I find it refreshing that, for a change, the PLB was getting paid to protect the right to keep and bear arms rather to infringe upon it.

I miss the good old days when the mobsters in the city were all Italian. At least you could identify them.
When we were kids we joked about Kosher-Nostra, I guess they're real.

In the Pistol Section in One Police Plaza there is a sign on every wall that reminds you that bribery is a felony. The entire interview floor is open, no dividing walls, desks close together, no way to have a conspiring chat with an officer. That must be why they had to meet outside the office.

Anyway, it's sad day when the people have to bribe their way into the constitutional rights. Everyone involved should go free, and the City Council should go to jail for violating the citizens' rights.

Hey, at least a bribe is something I can understand. Having to show "proper cause"? WTF is that?

Although, $6K is a little steep.

Silly NYPD.
Don't they know only politicians can accept bribes for gun permits?

Two things about pensions in The NYPD. You can only retire "with the permission of the Police Commissioner" which essentially means if you are under a dark cloud, the NYPD will not process your application for retirement. The second thing is, if you have more than 20 years on the job, your pension is protected because the thinking is you could have retired at 20 but stayed past.

I do not think they will/can be granted pension while under investigation. I think and I am not sure the city has a certain time frame they can bring charges against officers who are under investigation and seeking retirement and after finding either officers would be dismissed or get pension. Other may have more details

The NYPD like many other LE agencies will not give a "Good Guy Letter" for obtaining a full carry pistol license.
Once you have been vested over 5 years of service, you can collect.

it was my understanding if you are terminated you cannot collect unless you have over 20 years of service. But I could be mistaken. Vesting is a different animal.

Actually, A felony conviction means no pension. Cuomo signed it in 2011. I think it was set up to protect cops who failed drug tests.
