My Trusted advisors...

After 3 years of discussion with my wife - we have decided to bring a Labrador Retiever into our lives...we have agreed to a Black Lab.

I am looking for your collective advice on breeders...I can understand and truly appreciate the rescue movement - but please understand that my wife was severley attacked by a dog in her youth and she & I will only feel comfortable with a purebreed Lab that we know for certain its pedrigree..... one we can raise from as early as possible.

With that said- I am looking for your help in finding a good breeder - thanks in advance.

Frank

In the summer of 2014, we got Remi, our yellow Lab, from a breeder in West Hempstead. I'll talk to my dad to get the breeders details and PM you. So far she turned out to be a great dog.

A lab of colour... Nice choice!

No breeders that I know of, but what about a lab rescue society?

Labs are great! My guy is an English Lab. Hunter is a great name. (No bias). Got mine from friend in Virginia no litters on the way.

since my Labs were black I gave them somewhat black sounding names . My girl was Sadie , then there was Oscar , and then at the same time Felix ( Felix and Oscar )

If you are willing to travel we have a breeder in Maryland that we have two labs from. Both are amazing and great with kids etc. typical labs. They breed Englush style which has a stocky body and broader blocky head. Shady side Labs is their name.

I have no advice on breeders but I wish you luck in finding your new family member. I will suggest that you pay a bit more and get the labrador option package that includes a brain. I didn't think I needed to specify that, but apparently, some come from the factory without a brain.

For every ounce of cute, she lost 2 ounces of smart.

Thanks everyone for the input so far....its been a long time in the making.

Still have a lot of research to do - trying not to overthink it but want to make an informed decision.

What would qualify us to be accepted ? Thanks for the link we had already been looking at Skyline breeders as well (the bloodline is from them according to their site).

Thanks again...
