Reminiscent of the T Rex 6x6 pickup offered by Dodge, the Jeep JK truck was announced...let's see what happens....

With all the buzz swirling around the immensely powerful 707hp Hellcat engine, it was inevitable that someone would plant one in a Jeep. Well, we saw the first running example of that reality, and the sound of that monster V-8 screaming in the engine bay of a customized Jeep JK Wrangler made the hair on the back of our necks stand up.

So here’s the deal. Back in early 2015, the guys at Wild Boar Off Road were looking to buy a crate Hellcat engine, but they were not available yet, so they had almost given up when a friend found a crashed ’15 Dodge Challenger with an intact supercharged 6.2L V-8 16-valve SRT motor. That was sent to Dakota Customs Rapid City, South Dakota, a company with lots of experience swapping in V-8s (especially Hemi V-8s), who developed a JK install kit for the engine. Dakota Customs also created did all the ECM programming and custom wiring to shoehorn the screaming SRT V-8 into the JK.
In addition, Dakota backed it up with a W5A580 five-speed auto trans that had been treated to Southern Hot Rods’ Viking Stage 2 upgrade kit. That brings in, among other things, beefier clutch packs and baskets, with trans valve changes that allow it to shift much firmer and handle the Hemi power. The stock JK T-case remains, as do the front Dana 30 and rear Dana 44 axles. To get a 6x6 configuration, a Ford 9-inch twin-screw through-shaft axle was used between the T-case and the rear Dana 44.

only engine i want to see swapped into a jeep is a diesel. all that power and speed is great until you take a turn in a wrangler.

AFAIK, Jeep makes a diesel Wrangler, but not for sale in the US.

If Jeep plays true to their past behavior, this thing may become available up for a very short time in 2018-2019.
I'm still PO'd at them for discontinuing Tank color to pave the way for the 75th Anniversary Sarge Green (the color available only on those limited edition models).
I had a JKU on order and they canceled it.

yup for overseas. but not in the US. never understood why not. would help with the fuel economy and move the heavy weight of it. would have been nice to find one on the used market too, especially models before the requirement of the exhaust additive which any future diesel would have.

Now wait just a cotton picking' minute! Am I to believe that 4 wheel drive does NOT give me the ability to go from 60 - 0 in the same fashion as 0 - 60?? My Mother in law begs to differ.

It's like they ran out of money on this build..
Seriously.. Keeping the Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear after spending all of that money on the drivetrain and frame stretch?!!
Guys running Hemi JK's at least upgraded to aftermarket Dana 60 rear and beefed up a 44 up front at a minimum.
With all of that power, those axles days are numbered.

Why pour all of that money into a build only to cheap out on some essential components?

I applaud them for stuffing a Hellcat motor in a jeep and getting it running with all of the electronics, but 6x6 is silly..
There was a viper V10 stuffed in a TJ wrangler years ago in Jeep magazine. Without the electronics on this motor, this should be as easy as a hemi swap. :P
