Also, keep in mind, the paperwork doesn't end when the transfer is complete. These FFLs have to maintain your info and their records on your transaction for many years. I think around $25 is more than reasonable. Places that charge $50 for new purchases want you to buy the firearm from them. Makes sense for them if you think about it.

I'm in the process of doing this myself. Kwaks said they charge $32.59 for the transfer. I called south shore and they want $30 for used and $50 for new.

Funny, but these are the two stores I always use. Great people to deal with in both.

Just wanted to update, I went to kwaks today, 2 of the nicest gentlemen I have had the pleasure of meeting in a gun store. Very professional, informative and all around nice guys. It was a seemless transaction having something transfer to me. I plan on using them in the future for all transfers. While it might be a tad far between there and NCPD I'm ok with it. Far too often I feel that you walk into a gun store on the island and it's like they are doing you a favor.

Also be careful some FFLs will not accept from an individual only another ffl.

I use volko almost exclusively. I always send vick a pm or give him a ring as a heads up. They are great at getting the ffl info to the shipper, etc.

I highly recommend.

too bad they don't do pistol transfers:

I had a long rifle go threw them from a private party smooth  deal
